eMedia
Center patrons login with a Library Pin Number to
access their library's database from home, office, school - anywhere there is
an Internet connection. Once logged in a patron can perform the
following tasks:

The Desktop
Library, accessed only by the librarian, stores the
library's databases on our Internet server. Once online the librarian logs in
(with the proper login information) the following tasks can be performed via
any Internet computer:

Material data
entry of books, periodicals, eMaterials, audio-visual equipment, and all
other library media. |
 |
Borrower data
entry for new and existing borrowers. |
 |
All
library circulation functions:
material check out, material check in, reserve materials, material
renewals. |
 |
Pay fines
for overdue books. |
 |
Email
(or print) overdue
notices, fines and reserve notices to all applicable borrowers at the
click of a button. |

Update
the library's calendar of events as needed. This calendar can
be viewed by patrons visiting the eMedia Center on the Internet. |

Update
the library's Information Editor listing hours, location,
facilities, library homepage and other website links (also viewed by
patrons). |
 |
All
database
maintenance (such as indexing and backup) as well as any software updates are performed by MC˛ SYSTEMS personnel
at the
library server itself. The librarian accesses, edits and adds to the data
on the server via the Internet without worrying about database maintenance
procedures. |
